Kōr is our brand of essentials, pieces at the very core of your wardrobe. These are the garments you reach for regularly, whether you are dressing up or down. The fact it's called "kōr"  "core" element is not just a simple play on words, it's more of a happy accident!

I originally had another name in mind, I applied for the trademark and then a few months later, received a delightful letter from an American company whose name included ours, basically telling us they were rejecting our trademark application. So just like that, I was back to the drawing board!

I sat on it for a few weeks before I started to look at other names. I'd run out of inspiration so decided to have a look into a name relating to my heritage. I can understand Tamil but I can't actually speak so Google Translate helped me out as well as my family.

Eventually, I found a word that was absolutely perfect. Phonetically, it is "kōr" which means "to thread" and according to google translate, it means "core".

Just like that, we found the name of our brand of essentials. I needed a name that summed up what we are all about. We have our core beliefs; ethical, sustainable, essential and affordable.
